T: Triolet

T

A Triolet is a poetic form consisting of only 8 lines. Within a Triolet, the 1st, 4th, and 7th lines repeat, and the 2nd and 8th lines do as well. The rhyme scheme is simple: ABaAabAB, capital letters representing the repeated lines.

PAINTING

If my poems painted a picture

what a masterpiece I could write.

There would be no past, no future

if my poems painted a picture

Live in the present forever…

all other passions would be trite

if my poems painted a picture

What a masterpiece I could write!

  1. So true! In fact, I just uploaded a ‘Triolet’ of my own onto my blog. It’s linked below. I’d love it if you would have a look over it and leave me some tips on how to improve. I’m sure I could learn a lot from you. I hope you like it!

Heard about Triolet. Just heard and it backed out in haze. But Painting by yours truly made me learn the basic rudiments. Especially, the rhyme pattern ABaAabAB. Enjoyed.
