Someone, somewhere.

Someone somewhere is happy today

But I scuttled the boat I was in

Someone is pleased with her purchases,

The path his career is going.

Some couples smile and rejoice tonight

I thought I would reach the other side

Families are laughing over stories

Narrated at the table where they abide

Some children will not go hungry

Before the water seeped enough to sink

Their smiles untainted by sorrow

Unfettered by adult thinks.

Some mothers have perfected parenting

I should not have scuttled the boat

Raising happy all rounded individuals

Who know always to stay afloat.

The boat is sinking, father, I let the oars drift

These arms are weary trying to swim to shore

A shore that keeps changing, moving further away…

While someone happily surfs once more.
