Last night I had a vision,
call it a dream if you will
you stood beneath the litchi tree
the twilight was calm and still.
As I rushed to reach your side
your smile echoed in my ears
“there’s no need to hurry,” you said
“I’ll always be waiting here.”
I walked and ran and walked
Twilight turned to night
your voice lifted my thoughts
lit my arduous path with light.
I woke near dawn, no tale to tell
of how I touched your out-stretched arms
or how I hugged you back. One smile
is enough. To weather any storm.
That was a nice vision or dream to have I think.
