L: Leftovers

You have returned again

from where I banished you

deep inside my mind.

One song is all it took

one glance, just one look

with half-opened eyes

and I am lost

again. Lost in a world

of dreams where you and I

wake together alive and free

free of the pages

we have torn from our lives

the regrets, the reasons cast aside

like rotting leftovers.

Do you know I still see

your smiling eyes

where I left you standing

that last time.

And I wonder what you see

when you look away and say

you’re thinking of nothing

and when you sigh

back into your life..

do you miss me too?

Or do our worlds collide

only in restless dreams

with no place to hide..

like rotting leftovers.

Interesting merging of ideas. Rotting leftovers sounds pretty disgusting. Relationships can be so complex especially after they’ve ended.
