I was ashamed.
When they plucked at my hair and told me
To sit on their lap
I knew
Something was not right.
I was shamed.
Was I too pretty,
Was I too bright?
I always thought “average”.
Was the word
That fit me right.
But I was ashamed
And I ran away.
I did not stand up and fight.
So I stand up now
And I stand up all right
When my swears shock your sensibilities
And do not take flight
Are you shamed?
Oh, I know your macho type.
Do you know,
You never were right.
Do you know,
You are what I fight.
For my daughters, my sisters
My friends, even clients
Sometimes.
One such young mother
Came to me tonight.
Abused,
Naked in her plight.
Her eyes glistened with tears
Lips trembled in fright
This is the reason why
This is exactly why.
I am unashamed.
And I fight.
” when my swears shock your sensibilities!!” loved reading this!!

What could I say more? Mothers and mummy bloggers, make sure you teach your sons too. It would help build a better tomorrow, to reduce the shame.
